Festival of science
Festival of Science at the Faculty of Physics. The Warsaw Festival of Science is the biggest popular-scientific event In Poland. It is a two-week time full of lectures, discussions, workshops, special school classes, excursions and exhibitions covering all possible topics from the origins if the universe to ancient poetry. The Faculty of Physics has been the main organizers of the Festival since its first edition in 1996. The last year only, more than 5000 people participated in over 40 events organized at the Faculty.
Science Picnic is the largest outdoor popular scientific event in Europe. Every year over 250 Polish as well as foreign institution take part in the event. Faculty of Physics regulary participates in the Picnic preparing a number of interactive experiments and demonstrations.
Sejny rendez-vous with science festival. Sejny is a picturesque region of virgin forests and lakes, situated in the north-eastern Poland. Sejny is also a name of a town, of about 7000 inhabitants, of rich history and tradition, close to the border with Lithuania. Many physicists from the Faculty of Physics, University of Warsaw and from the National Centre for Nuclear Research have their summer places in this area. Responding to expectations and demands of the local population, the physicists organised a science festival in July, August and September 2010. It comprised a series of 11 lectures and discussions on the frontier topics in science, given weekly. The festival, supported by the Faculty of Physics and the local "Pogranicze" organisation was very well attended and quickly became a popular event in the region, waking a large interest of local and country-wide media. It was repeated each year 2011-2017.
