Young talents

Polish Children’s Fund. The Faculty of Physics is in a very close collaboration with the Polish Children’s Fund. A unique organization helping highly gifted pupils and students pursue and develop their scientific interests and artistic talents. The faculty coorganizes regular workshops for the Fund in which the best scientists come in direct contact with pupils and confront them with the most fascinating problems of modern physics. Pupils have access to the faculty labs and a significant portion of the projects end up in solving a real scientific problem or performing a novel experiment, the results of which are published.

Physics Olympiad. The Physics Olympiad is a prestigious competition dedicated to high school students from all of Poland. The participants need to solve both ambitious theoretical problems as well as design and perform experiments. The Faculty of Physics is the leading member of the National Physics Olympiad Committee organiyes the final competition and coordinates the organization of regional stages of the competitions with local partners. Top 5 finalists of the competition represent Poland during the International Physics Olympiad in which Poland has an impressive medal record.

Search for talents competition. The initiative started in 2005 is dedicated to junior-high and high school students who are actively developing their interest in physics in various forms. Rather than checking the skills and physical knowledge of the students in a typical way, it is prompting them to investigate physical phenomena themselves, take photographs , perform experiments, write popular-scientific essays etc.
