Publication by scientists from the Faculty of Physics UW awarded the Crystallographic Diamond

2025-06-23

The awarded article, titled 'Magnetic, electric and toroidal polarization modes describing the physical properties of crystals. NdFeO₃ case', was published in 2023 in Acta Crystallographica Section A: Foundations and Advances (vol. 79, pp. 80–94). The publication presents an innovative approach to describing the physical properties of crystals, using NdFeO₃ as a case study. The first author of the paper is Dr Piotr Fabrykiewicz, who obtained his PhD at the Faculty of Physics, UW and is currently working at the Institute of Crystallography at RWTH Aachen University. Co-authors of the paper are FUW researchers Prof. Radosław Przeniosło and Prof. Izabela Sosnowska.

The Crystallographic Diamond Awards are granted annually by the Committee on Crystallography of the Polish Academy of Sciences to recognize the most outstanding scientific publications in the field of crystallography by Polish researchers. The award is a mark of recognition for the scientific achievements presented in the honored work and supports the promotion of Polish crystallography on both the national and international stage.

The announcement of the award has been published on the Committee’s official website and will be formally presented during the 66th Crystallographic Colloquium, a nationwide meeting of Polish crystallographers, which will take place in Wrocław from June 25 to 27, 2025.
