The Faculty of Physics UW has become a partner of the Semiconductor Competence Centre - InnoSemi, an initiative aimed at developing the national semiconductor sector and its integration into the European innovation ecosystem. The project coordinators on behalf of the Faculty are Prof. Adam Babiński, Prof. Barbara Piętka and Dr Piotr Kaźmierczak.

The InnoSemi project has received funding from the prestigious European Chips Joint Undertaking programme, the Chips 2024-CCC-1 competition, and has been allocated €8 million, co-financed by the Ministry of Development and Technology. The project is currently in the process of being formally launched.

The InnoSemi Centre will function as a nationwide semiconductor innovation cluster, supporting collaboration among the scientific, industrial, and administrative communities. Key activities include building cooperation networks in Poland and the European Union, knowledge transfer and technology consulting, support for SMEs and research institutions in accessing infrastructure and competencies, organisation of training and educational programmes, and active involvement of Polish teams in international R&D projects.

Special attention will be given to students - training, workshops and collaborative programmes with industry are planned to gain practical skills in modern semiconductor technologies.

The consortium forming the InnoSemi Centre includes: Łukasiewicz Research Network - Institute of Microelectronics and Photonics (project leader), National Chamber of Commerce for Electronics and Telecommunications, Łukasiewicz Research Network - PORT Polski Ośrodek Rozwoju Technologii, Łódź University of Technology, Poznań University of Technology Warsaw - Faculty of Physics.

The project is coordinated on behalf of the Faculty of Physics at the University of Warsaw by Prof. Adam Babiński, Porf. Barbara Piętka, and Dr. Piotr Kaźmierczak.

We encourage you to follow our website - the first activities of the Centre will start soon.
