QED tests in atomic systems
Abstract:
QED tests in atomic physics verify the accuracy of this fundamental theory and probe for potential new physics beyond the Standard Model. In my talk I will discuss the comparison of ab initio theoretical predictions based on QED with highly precise experimental measurements of Lamb shift, hyperfine splitting and bound-electron g factors in few-electron atoms, and their implications for determination of fundamental constants. Present theoretical challenges and future perspectives for theoretical improvements will be examined.
