Quantum effects in black hole physics near extremality
Extremal black holes have an infinite AdS2 factor in the near-horizon region leading to enhancement of symmetries that govern their physics. As we turn on a small temperature, some of these symmetries get slightly broken and give rise to interesting quantum effects. These effects significantly modify the semiclassical description. First, I will discuss how the entropy of these black holes get corrected. Next, I will discuss the corrections to Hawking radiation of such black holes in de Sitter, building upon recent developments in flat space.
