Information out of nowhere - how to take advantage of structured light?

Structuring light refers to laser beam shaping techniques that aim to take full control over a field's amplitude, phase, or polarization. These techniques have enabled mastery of new degrees of freedom, such as orbital angular momentum and spatial polarization distribution. In this talk, I will summarize our recent research, moving from scalar to vector fields. The core, however, remains unchanged: the apparent absence of information becomes an information carrier. I will show how the positions of phase singularities can serve as markers of wavefront aberration, and how the degree of polarization in vector vortex beams enables a form of optic
