Gamma Ray Spectroscopy with Laue Diffraction Spectrometers

The talk summarizes the current status of ultra high resolution gamma ray spectroscopy based on Laue diffraction. In the first part of the talk the instrumentation, its physical principles as well as its performances are described. In the second part of the talk an overview on experiments is given: For nuclear physics the GRID technique for nuclear state lifetime measurements and high resolution spectroscopy with a dynamic range of 106 will be discussed. The impact of precise gamma ray energy measurements on the determination of fundamental constants will be explained. In the third part of the talk an outlook on the future exploration of Laue diffraction spectrometers at high brilliant gamma ray beams as well as their combination with refractive gamma ray optics is given.
