Approaches for convection parameterization
Convection parameterization is one of the outstanding issues in atmospheric modelling. after a short introduction on the problem, the present talk asks a question how we approach to the convection parameterization problem in general manner. three major possibilities can be considered: mass flux, moments, and distribution density function (ddf, or pdf). here, the mass-flux approach is generalized from a point of view of SCA (segmentally constant approximation).
