Recent nuclear physics planning in the US and some new projects
The United States has gone through an exercise of planning for its future in nuclear science research with expected tight budgets. The process and outcomes will be discussed. Two new US projects – one known now as FRIB and the other DIANA will also be discussed. FRIB is to be an intense radioactive beam facility and DIANA will be an underground low energy accelerator laboratory with intense proton and alpha beams for measuring cross sections relevant to astrophysics.
