Prof. Michel Spiro (CEA Scientific Advisor, Paris)

LHC, CERN and the two infinities

This lecture will report on recent discoveries made with the LHC machine at CERN. A special emphasis will be on the discovery of the Brout, Englert and Higgs particle. I will elaborate on the implications of the existence of this new particle for the Standard Model of Particle Physics, for cosmology and for science in general.
Based on that, the short, medium and long term future of the field will be discussed. The lecture will also show in which conditions this discovery has been made possible: a long term support for a collaborative European and even global strategy.
CERN, with the LHC machine and its experiments offers to the world an interesting model for science and innovation for peace.

Zapraszamy!
Jacek Baranowski, Czesław Radzewicz.
