Reaction dynamics and space-time probes of isospin asymmetric nuclear systems

The study of reaction dynamics in heavy-ion collisions allows one to explore the equation of state on nuclear matter. Recent investigations have extended approaches towards collisions between nuclei with different N/Z ratios, providing insights into the density dependence of the symmetry energy which plays a key role both in nuclear physics and in astrophysics of neutron stars. The very complex scenario behind the dynamical evolution of heavy-ion collisions at intermediate energies requires the use of observables that are sensitive to space-time properties of the studied systems. Among them, femtoscopic studies performed with two- and multi-particle and fragment correlations are powerful tools to explore the size of exploding nuclear systems as well as their emission lifetimes. Imaging approaches have improved these investigations by removing part of model dependencies in the obtained results. Some questions remain still open and need more understanding. These topics will be addressed in the context of studies performed at intermediate energies (E/A=30-100 MeV/c) with multi detector arrays characterized by high angular resolution. The present status of engagements by our community will be discussed with results from three-fragment correlations, proton-proton and deuteron-alpha correlation functions. Future perspectives will be also presented by introducing the Farcos (Femtoscope Array for Correlations and Spectroscopy) projects at INFN, Catania and LNS. The proposed experimental programs are expected to address the use of femtoscopic probes of the density dependence of the symmetry energy and improve our understating of isospin dynamics in heavy-ion collisions.
Przed seminarium, od godz. 10:30, zapraszamy wszystkich na herbatę i ciastka do pokoju nr 21 (suterena).
