Dynamical Non-locality in Nuclear Potentials; Demonstration of a Practical Method
Dynamical non-locality, i.e. that due to the effect of coupling to strongly excited reaction channels, in the optical model potential is usually ignored in applications such as distorted wave Born approximation (DWBA) calculations. Unlike the more familiar knock-on exchange non-locality, responsible for most of the energy-dependence of empirical local optical model potentials for nucleons, there is no simple correction factor available to account for dynamical non-locality. We present a practical method for investigating the effect of employing optical potentials that are the local equivalent to potentials including dynamical non-locality (but not exchange non-locality) without the need to solve integro-differential equations and apply it to a test case.
